About Marilee

Attorney Marilee D. Hazel is a former felony prosecutor and chief misdemeanor prosecutor in Lamar County, Texas. 

Since 2008, Ms. Hazel has grown and managed her own law practice, Hazel Brown Law Firm, PLLC, in New Braunfels, Comal County, Texas.  Over the past 14 years, her firm has represented thousands of clients in matters ranging from tort litigation to business litigation, family law to probate and estate litigation, as well as criminal defense and appeals.  Ms. Hazel is a member of the Texas State Bar College and she has served three years as the President of the Comal County Bar Association. 

Attorney Marilee Hazel has argued cases in person before the Sixth Court of Appeals, including a nationally debated case in which Marilee Hazel’s prosecution was argued and upheld at the Texas Supreme Court. In her appellate practice she has also represented clients before the Third and Thirteenth Courts of Appeal in Texas in criminal matters. Her writings on DWI law and evidence have been published in the Texas District and County Attorneys Association magazine. Her writings on business torts have been published in the Texas State Bar’s Business Litigation Journal.

Ms. Hazel holds a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Languages from The University of Texas at Austin. She has volunteered her time with Veteran’s Treatment Court, Teen Court, local free legal clinics and supporting her two daughters’ softball teams.
